The conscience of the Malignant Narcissist, in contrast, is forced into a state of dormancy by continual acts of self-deception. As this Dark Triad Personality is anchored in a grandiose self-image of moral goodness, when she morally falters, she resorts to rationalizations, confabulations, and other defense mechanisms to maintain a feeling of moral righteousness, thus bypassing the conscience and escaping feelings of guilt. She silences her conscience with ongoing self-deceptions; she can repeatedly lie and behave in ways that oppose life, yet still believe that she is on the side of good. In fact, she sees herself as morally superior to all (this becomes evident as she dehumanizes others via her main defense mechanism of projecting her own malevolence onto others, seeking to demonize and demoralize via her dichotomous thinking all the while referring to her rage as "sacred" and "justified".
Driven by hatred and extreme levels of pathological envy, these predatory individuals consistently seek to undermine those who arouse their envy or paranoia, and do so without conscience.
Having been targeted since childhood by these malevolent creatures, from those in my family of origin (mostly through decades of severe psychological abuse), I am grateful to be alive to tell the story.
